Project by Serendipity Arts Festival

Date 17 Dec
Time 08:00 pm - 09:00 pm

B-side is an initiative by Serendipity Arts centred around independent music and cultural currents stemming from contemporary music practices. The programme strives to spark conversation in music production, DJ-ing, research, performances, educational modules, music business and collaborative sonic explorations focused on emerging acts around South Asia. The programme kicked off with a workshop in DJ mixing in October in Goa. Some of the participants from the workshop will now be playing along with established DJs from the country at the Festival.

A collaborative exploration between two artists that came together as a part of British Council’s India/UK Together Season of Culture, The Fully Automatic Model x Kaleekarma is a multi-disciplinary project that infuses contemporary electronic-influenced soundscapes and generative visual art from Irish and Indian artists. The fully Automatic Model, a fully dedicated explorer of the medium, synthesisers, modular devices and Kalee with her love for emotive, percussive, minimal approach, this collaboration promises a meeting point of sounds that makes for a space of its own.

Based in Derry, Ireland, electronic music composer and performer The Fully Automatic Model is widely known for his fascination of sculpting sound via modular synths, tape machines, DIY instruments and feedback / distortion circuits. Musically, you can expect anything from Ambient shows on top of a mountain to IDM & Techno performances in world class clubs. Visually, TFAM has been been experimenting with cutting edge technology and Generative Art for years, to create a truly unique visual toolkit that takes his live performance into a full audio visual experience like no other. Each performance aims to encapsulate the idea that everything is constantly ebbing and flowing and these cycles alternate and constantly influence sound, movement, life and the rhythm of everything.

Kaleekarma is foremost a storyteller. She uses music as the medium to weave together a richly detailed tapestry of theatrical tales. She is drawn to organic, ethnic, retro, acid and folk sounds. Her primary aim as an artist is to guide the listener on a journey through shifting soundscapes and states of mind, from peaceful and unhurried to intense and other-worldly, with much that can and does come in between. Having played in all the major metropolitan cities across India, Kaleekarma enjoys a level of national recognition in the underground music space in the country. She has had the opportunity to play alongside artists such as Stimming, HVOB, Deena Abdelwahed, Trikk, Daniel Avery, Stavroz, Zero7, Nu, A Guy Called Gerald, amongst others. Her past performances include Magnetic Fields Festival ’19, Magnetic Fields Nomads ’21, Mixmag’s Lab Mumbai and Goa edition.
